Visit Vesterålen Rorbuer during Reginedagan!

Date:
July 18 – July 27

Serine Regine Normann (1867 - 1939) was a Norwegian author who was born and raised in Bø in Vesterålen. She was the first known female author from Northern Norway. Her writing includes 18 books, and she was also a board member of the Norwegian Writers' Association, and a good friend of Sigrid Undset, Nini Roll Anker and Barbra Ring. At the age of 17, she ended up in an unhappy marriage with the 21-year-old bellmaker and teacher Peder Johnsen. She began writing early, but against her husband's will, and for that reason she had to hide in a cave in the mountains when she practiced her writing. This cave can be visited today, and is an attraction for locals and visitors - Sinahula.

Regine Normann is honored with various cultural and artistic activities in Bø for a whole week every summer.

During this year's festival we have an exhibition from the artist Solsoldat ( www.solsoldat.no ) throughout the week, in addition to being visited by the artist Trude Lind Oftedal ( www.trudelind.com ).

We also have Eagle Safaris with RIBs from the pier during this period so that you can see the fantastic landscape from nature's perspective.
